GENERAL INFORMATION

Registration: 

Registration for attending Geneva Peace Conference does not include paying a registration fee. However, we suggest that everyone who is interested in participating, goes through the registration process as soon as possible due to visa formalities that may take longer time to be completed. You may register for the conference by following the instructions in the registration section on this website.

Languages:

Please note that the working language of the conference will be English. There will be simultaneous interpretation for Turkish for the opening & closing ceremony and for each of the panel sessions.

Transportation: 

Geneva International Airport is well-connected with other major airports around the world. Public transport in Geneva comprises an extensive bus network, various rail systems, boats and taxis. The one and the same UNIRESO ticket is valid for bus, tram, boat and local tram falling within given Unireso zone. Tickets are to be bought at the ticket machines (coins, no credit cards), located at every bus or tram stop in the city and inside the buses going outside of the city.

Currency:

The local currency is the Swiss Francs (CHF). Currency can be exchanged at major banks, exchange booths and at most hotels. The average exchange rate is 1 CHF = $ 1.10 or 1 CHF = € 0.80. Major credit cards including American Express, Diners, MasterCard and Visa are accepted in large hotels, car rental companies and major stores.

Insurance: 

The participants are expected to have and shall be responsible for their own insurance to cover expenses related to medical treatment while on travel or in Switzerland when attending the Conference and/or the related events.

Visa:

Please be informed that some foreign nationals will require a visa to enter Switzerland. Therefore, please apply for a visa at the Swiss Embassy in your home country. In case you don’t live in your home country, you must apply for a visa at the Swiss Embassy in the country of your residence. Please note that after you register for the conference you will automatically receive an invitation letter to your email box. You should use this invitation letter when applying for a visa. It usually takes around 8 to 10 weeks before the Swiss authorities grant a visa. Therefore, we highly suggest that you register as soon as possible so that you will get your visa on time.
Weather: The average temperature in Geneva at the end of October ranges between 7°C and 15°C.
Local Time: GMT+2 (GMT = Greenwich Mean Time)
Participation Info: Geneva Peace Conference is open to all NGOs representatives, academics, specialists and journalists.
Emergency Information: In case of an emergency while you are in Switzerland, please call 144 for emergency services or call 117 for police.

Name Badges:

Badges are distributed upon registration. Please make sure to bring your badge to all events and meals.
